At the upscale Italian restaurant, James sat across from Serena, his heart thumping with anticipation. He was astounded by how stunning she appeared in her fuzzy purple dress. Serena never dressed up like this, and James was loving every inch of her.
But there was something else. Although she had always been stunning, tonight she had a new quality. There was something better about her. She looked like she had been working out a lot more, and her hair was now blonde, which only made her more stunning.
“I’ve been getting a lot of pointers from Kim,” Serena explained between bites. That actually surprised James a lot. He always thought that Kim hated Serena. “Do you like what I did with my hair?”
“Love it,” James admitted. “I was a little scared to point it out. Something’s really different about you.” He smiled and leaned forward. “I don’t know - there’s an awesome aura of confidence around you.”
He found himself drawn to Serena's every word when the conversation started talking about her own personal plans. They talked about everything from their shared interests to their hopes and dreams for the future.
She wanted to become a teacher suddenly, while James felt a little inadequate when he said that he didn’t know what he wanted to do. But Serena didn’t belittle him or make fun of him.
She was actually very relatable. And as the night wore on, James couldn't help but feel like this was the beginning of something special. After dinner, James drove Serena back to her dorm, and they sat in his car, talking for a few moments longer. They laughed and joked, their energy building as the night grew darker. And then, without saying a word, Serena took James by the hand and led him into her dorm.
